Of all the PIER 39 restaurants, Pier Market is the one that is most beloved by locals. This commitment to quality has remained at the heart of the Pier Market experience for over forty years. From the beginning, the Simmons were committed to using only the freshest ingredients and cooking their seafood over mesquite charcoal, a technique that imparts a unique smoky flavor and seals in all the natural juices. In 1983, Pier Market Seafood Restaurant was born. Today, over 40 years later, Warren’s son, Scooter, and his family continue to own and operate the most successful Fisherman’s Wharf restaurants, including Pier Market Seafood Restaurant. Warren’s son, Scooter, and Scooter’s wife, Nancy, came to manage and operate a number of restaurants on the PIER. The staff is also happy to arrange off-site activities, including private boat charters.įor another dose of laid-back island life (and a totally different perspective), hop the ferry to the Cranberry Isles, a cluster of five islands just south of Mount Desert Island. There are decks and porches for relaxing and taking in water views, a heated outdoor pool with private cabanas, an on-site spa, croquet court, and complimentary bicycles. Everything’s been updated and elegantly and comfortably furnished. Today, the luxury resort offers a variety of accommodations, including adult-only guest rooms in the Main House, Philips House, and Summer House, and family-friendly cottages and cabins.
